Since the Syrian war broke out in 2011, hundreds of thousands have been killed and millions have been displaced – either within Syria or in nearby nations. Many have risked their lives traveling the refugee highway trying to obtain a better life for their families. MercyWorks has come alongside refugees in the Middles East as well as various places in Europe to help in practical ways and to share the love of God with them.
MercyWorks brings help, hope and healing to people afflicted by war, famine, extreme poverty and natural disasters. In our work among refugees, there is often a confluence of all these factors, so it is a given that MercyWorks would be deeply committed to meeting the needs of the refugee. Indeed, from the very beginning this has been a hallmark of MercyWorks – defending the cause of the fatherless and the widow (Deut. 10:18). Some of our earliest projects involved meeting the needs of refugees in places such as Kosovo/Albania, Thailand/Myanmar, and South Sudan.
