Hurricane Ida lashed Louisiana as an extremely dangerous Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 150 mph bringing catastrophic winds and heavy rainfall all along the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Ida made landfall the same day as the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In response to Ida, MercyWorks is sending volunteers and supplies to help the people in Southern Louisiana. Many people still do not have water or electricity yet. A big need is the cutting up and clearing of trees. Mercy works has two teams doing chainsaw work and tree removal for the elderly in the areas of Hammond and Albany, Louisiana. Each team will be 5 days long and is connecting with a local ministry to reach out to those in need. There is also a need for clean water and food distribution. Please keep these people in your prayers.
