Hurricane Sandy Response Team

We have an opportunity to minister to people adversely affected by Hurricane Sandy. Today as I write, one million people are still without power.  Thousands more are now homeless and have lost all they had. MercyWorks is sending our first team to help to Atlantic City, New Jersey and we have room for you!  The team is scheduled to arrive in nearby Ocean City this weekend.  They will serve people in a number of ways: food and water distribution, general clean up, running errands for people, praying and encouraging people, etc. If you would like to join the team,...

Syrian Refugee Crisis Update

The crisis in Syria worsens by the day.  You may have heard that some 30,000 Syrians have been killed by President al-Assad in the past year.  I recently returned from northern Jordan where 200,000 Syrian refugees are currently living.  The stories I heard from those who escaped were both horrifying and heartbreaking.  If ever there was a time for the church to reach out in the name and love of Jesus to these refugee families, it is NOW. 32,000 of the refugees are located in the Za’atri Refugee Camp, while others live in goat barns, abandoned houses or low...

Needed: Goats and Doctors!

Hope your summer is going well. We are in need of goats and doctors as you can tell. Please be in prayer about the following … Gideon is our MercyWorks contact in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and manages the animal bank project. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Eph 6: 12 NKJVReports from Syria lately illustrate the ongoing fighting not only within the nation, but also between the spiritual principalities and powers. Demonic forces seem to be running rampant as thousands die needlessly and thousands more seek refuge in Jordan and Turkey. Can this all be blamed on the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his armies? Or is he a pawn, albeit a willing pawn, in this battle...

MercyWorks to Help Syrian Refugees

Syrian refugees are fleeing the destruction of their homeland. There are just under 20,000 refugees living in tent cities across the Turkish border, 5,000 refugees in the Bekaa Valley and just under 8,000 refugees in Jordan. Even in Syria there are over 200,000 internally displaced persons, with the potential of that number multiplying rapidly. MercyWorks is communicating with people in Syria who confirm the ongoing strife has caused mass devastation in families lives, especially in the city of Homs. The Turkish Red Crescent chief Ahmet Lutfi Akar warned last week that up to half a million Syrian refugees may...
